Be a Safe Driver and Lower Your RV Insurance Rates

We all like to learn how to lower our insurance rates, and one of the best ways to lower your RV insurance rate is to be a safer driver. How can we do this?RV on the road

  1. Take time to walk around your RV and ensure that everything is ready for a drive. Look at all the tires, and be sure the gas cap and other caps are shut. If you have added any items for shade, ensure they are secure.
  2. Know how tall your RV is. That might sound silly, but it's important. You don't want to be get stuck under an overpass or in a drive-through at a restaurant. Pay attention to signs that signify the height of overpasses and if an overpass is too low, then don't attempt to squeeze under it.
  3. If you have a propane tank, don't paint it a dark color. Dark colors absorb the sun more and the tank can overheat and explode in extreme cases. You also don't want to drive while someone is using the stove or oven. That is not a safe driving practice and can result in accidents.
  4. Don't drive in storms. RVs are taller and can tip over more easily than cars in storms. If there is a storm while you are driving, find a safe place to pull over and wait.
  5. Practice turning corners and stopping in a parking lot. If you are a new RV driver, don't wait to practice on the roads. Practice in an empty parking lot so you know how to safely corner and use the brakes.

Being a safe RV driver can be easy. Start with these five steps and please feel free to contact us if you would like to know more.
